dishes drying

It would be safe to say, I’m not a clean as you go cook. Cleaning just gets in the way of all the fun. But then, in the end, I am faced with a mountain of dishes, and this is BEFORE I start dinner.

time for dishes

I do try to have my blog mess cleaned up before dinner prep begins; Ian’s not a big fan of doing my blog dishes, most of which cannot just go in the dishwasher. But sometimes, the dishes overlap, and my blog dishes and the dinner dishes battle it out for sink space.  And I do mean battle. Last week one of my large glass mixing bowl literally jumped out of the sink just to escape. {We’re still finding glass bits}

Ian’s precious wine glasses have suffered the most, getting crushed by my pots, pans, and bake ware. I’d love to say that I will always have one mess cleaned up before making another, but who am I kidding. That is not likely to happen 100% of the time, and we’re pretty much out of stemware.  We’ll be drinking wine in keg cups before long.

Why had I not thought of a dish rack sooner? Probably because most are big, bulky, and not so nice to look at.

The Rubbermaid Deluxe Drainer Dish Rack single handedly saved our remaining wine glasses, and has made kitchen clean up much more civilized {it looks pretty good too}.

There’s plenty of room for my vintage silver, pots, pans, a tray for knives, and Ian’s glasses no longer have to duck for cover.

The bet part was that I used my target cartwheel app and saved 15%. {I probably should use the money saved to buy Ian some new glasses}

Believe it or not I’ve even gotten better about cleaning as I go.

Now if only Rubbermaid made something to help with laundry…
