the perfect way to savor the flavors of fall

pumpkin spice coffee creamer

I hope you’re ready.

The pumpkin craze has begun.

Actually, I  think it started weeks ago when Starbucks brought back the  pumpkin spice latte early. People go crazy for them.

I don’t happen to be one of those people. I’m pretty plain when it comes to my coffee.

No sickly sweet syrups or whipped cream for me; I’m a coffee with cream kind of girl, or on the rare occasion a latte. But definitely nothing with sweetness.

Now that doesn’t mean I don’t love the seasonal coffee flavors. I look forward to pumpkin spice coffee season all year long. Usually I just buy the pumpkin spice coffee beans, but because I always use cream in my coffee, I though I’d try to make pumpkin spice cream minus all the sweet.

There are countless recipes for pumpkin spice creamer; a few of  them are  here, here, and here. All delicious and much better than anything you’d find at your favorite coffee house; homemade is always the way to go if you ask me.

Made with real pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling, this creamer is a delicious way to enjoy fall flavors without loading up on sugar first thing in the morning, or if you’re like me, pretty much all day long. Please tell me I’m not the only one that drinks coffee sun-up til sun-down…

Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer {unsweetened}

  • 2 cups half and half {or a combination of whole milk and cream}
  • 3 Tbsp pumpkin puree {not pumpkin pie filling}
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • warm the half and half over med-low heat until it begins to steam {about 15 minutes} make sure to stir occasionally
  • whisk in the pumpkin, vanilla, and spices
  • {strain if you don't want pumpkin bits in your coffee, but I kind of like it}
  • remove from the heat, allow to cool
  • store in a covered container int the fridge {mason jars work perfectly}
  • *shake well before using

Because you ‘re using real ingredients like cinnamon, and pumpkin, they will settle to the bottom. Make sure to shake the cream well before using.
