Pigs in a Blanket {on a stick}

I know that I have mentioned on more than one occasion that I am in LOVE with Ree Drummond.
I have read her books, blog, and try to watch her on the Food Network whenever I can.

My daughter and I had a bit of down time Saturday morning and watched together.
Stella’s exact words…“I want to live there.”  Who wouldn’t.

She made a corn-dog like pigs in a blanket for her kiddos.
What a FUN idea.

Charlie has been visiting my parents in South Carolina for the last two weeks, and  this would be the perfect welcome home breakfast.

I used:
12 turkey breakfast sausage links – cooked according to the package directions
2 cups of Bisquick
1 1/4 cups of buttermilk
1 egg
canola oil for frying (heat on med-high)
bamboo skewers

while the sausages are cooking, combine the Bisquick, milk and egg
skewer each sausage

dunk and roll each skewer in the Bisquick (so they are completely coated)
fry in the hot oil – do not crowd the pot

fry for 1 – 2 minutes
drain on a paper towel while you prepare the rest
(you can keep them warm in a 200 degree oven )

serve with syrup to dip

they were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside

pretty sure I could have eaten all 12 by myself

Our house may not be as quiet with Charlie home, but it sure is nice to have him back:)
