molasses pound cake
it’s beginning to feel a lot like holiday time, and this molasses pound cake is a great way to start getting in the spirit
YOU GUYS…yes I’m yelling. I am in shock. My parents arrived last night. Thanksgiving is in less than a week. Do you now what this means? Holiday time is here. I know it comes at this time every year, but man it always sneaks right up on me. This year I blame it on the house buying. Why did we think moving at holiday time was a good idea? I have been running around like crazy to get ready for my parents visit. Day trips are planned, meals are planned, the house has been cleaned, you know the family is coming drill I’m sure.
By the time my parent head home after turkey day it will be only 2 days until December. Then we move, Stella’s birthday is a few days later, and two weeks after that we have Christmas. It is simply a whirlwind of activity and no matter how much I have to do I plan to enjoy every crazy family filled minute of it.
Can I let you in on a secret? I have not purchased a single gift. I used to be the one DONE with my shopping in October, and now here it is mid November and I have nothing. Oh well, it all gets done somehow.
Even with my growing to-do list and boxes to pack, next week you are sure to find me sitting by the fire enjoying a slice or two of this molasses pound cake. It tastes and smells like winter. What I love most about this pound cake is that it’s a double duty recipe. Toasted with butter or cream cheese this molasses pound cake is a fantastic holiday breakfast. Topped with whipped cream and a dash of nutmeg it is a delicious dessert elegant enough for any holiday gathering.
They’re great for gifting too, and you can find the recipe for this molasses pound cake over at the Bake Craft Sew Decorate holiday event happening at Your Homebased Mom.
