If you had told teenage me that adult me would love camping, I wouldn’t have believed you. I enjoyed camping when I was young; girl scout camp was always so much fun, even the time we got snowed in in May. But after 10 or so I was not having it.

My family would travel  up to a group of cottages in Canada, so it wasn’t even real camping, but still I was not having it. There was an outhouse, and the lake was FULL of leeches. No. Thank.  You. I loved hanging out with my cousins, but we could have done that at home.

Now, I would camp every weekend if I could. I think it has something to do with the fact that the kids love it so much. We can unplug, reconnect, and of course food, especially Ball Park® Hot Dogs, always tastes better when cooked and eaten outside around a fire.

We planned to spend our first weekend of summer camping, but the weather decided not to cooperate.  Some people may be okay with a little rain, but I am not happy when I am soggy and muddy, so no camping for me. At least not outdoor camping.

We decided that we’re going to camp in the living room this weekend, and you know what. It is going to be so much fun.

I stocked up on glow sticks to make glowing jars. Lights are not allowed on our indoor camping trip.

Made sure our flashlights were ready for ghost stories, shadow puppets, and if the rain stops, for flashlight scavenger hunting.

Stargazing on camping trips is a must. Constellation jars are a fun art project, you can cover the room in glow in the dark stars, or make a starry flashlight. I even found star  cutout candle holders at target.

Our living room may not be large enough for a tent, but I LOVE making these teepees, and they are perfect for indoor camping.

We can still cook our food over a fire (the fire pit on the patio that is). A camp out, even of the indoor variety, needs food cooked over a fire.  Some people like to get all fancy with their camping food, but me, I am a camp food purist.  So I made  a quick trip to Kroger to load up on Ball Park® Hot Dogs, buns, and plenty of s’more making goodies.

Life’s an Adventure. #ShareIt! indoor camping with Ball Park® Hot Dogs

Life’s an adventure, and this summer Tyson Foods, Inc, Ball Park® Hot Dogs , and Kroger want to help you make it a summer full of adventure, even if it just means exploring the wilderness of the living room. Find creative ways to cook your dogs, fun games to download, coloring pages, and plenty of ideas to get you in the camping spirit.

Of course, no camping trip is complete with out the s’mores. I LOVE the idea of a s’mores bar, where everyone can create their own unique combination, but for our indoor camping trip I decided on individual mini skillet s’mores, but in place of the chocolate bars, we’ll use peanut butter cups. Who doesn’t love a peanut butter cup right.
