jameson and ginger and an end of summer bonfire
I am in complete denial.
I’m not sure how since I spent the better part of last week attending back-to-school orientations and schedule pick-ups.
But here I am, in complete denial that summer is coming to an end.
The kids are ready, excited even to see friends again.
Clothes are laid out for the first day. Supplies are labeled. The pantry is ready for lunch packing, and backpacks are packed and waiting.
It seemed only fitting to celebrate the end of summer with a back-yard bbq and bonfire. Only with our crazy schedule it needed to be low key and SUPER easy. Turns out that SUPER easy also means SUPER fun, even for the hostess.
A party isn’t a party without the chips and guacamole, and fresh is the only way to go, but to keep it easy I simply mashed avocados with pre-made pico de gallo from Safeway.
A full bar can be a lot of work (and pricey too) so I decided on a signature cocktail with a fun mocktail for the kiddos.
Jameson® Irish Whiskey with Canada Dry® Ginger Ale and lime for the adults, and a tropical punch made with 7UP®, pineapple juice and don’t forget the cherries
- 1 ounce Jameson® Irish Whiskey
- Canada Dry® Ginger Ale
- lime wedge
- fill glass with ice
- add the Jameson® Irish Whiskey and then fill with Canada Dry® Ginger Ale
- garnish with lime
it’s not too late to end your summer in style, either poolside, beach-side, or backyard style find your perfect party mix here
and NO backyard bonfire would be complete with out the s’mores
I got everything I needed at Safeway and stocked up on my lunch-box supplies at the same time.
I may be in denial, but at least I’m ready.
