If you ask me, most things taste better homemade.

Mac and Cheese

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Pasta Sauce…just to name a few.

Peanut Butter Chips in a BIG way.

It doesn’t seem to matter which brand you choose, they are all bad.  Much too sweet, and frankly not very pea-nutty. So, I just don’t use them. But the other day I was really wanting to make a chocolate peanut butter chip cookie. Peanut butter is something that I always have in the pantry so I started experimenting.

We make peanut butter balls every year for Christmas, so I had  a recipe to build from.

Homemade Peanut Butter Chips

  • 1/4 cup of all natural peanut butter {I chose crunchy, but either is fine}
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 - 1 tbsp milk {I used plain almond}

  • cream together the peanut butter, sugar, and coconut oil
  • gradually add in the milk 1 tsp at a time until you get the desired consistency
  • pipe drops onto parchment(using a piping bag or ziploc bag with the end snipped off}
  • freeze until firm, and then store in an air tight container in the freezer until you need them

In the end I got a chip that is definitely softer than its store bought counterpart, and should be kept in the freezer right until you are ready to use them, but these chips taste like peanut butter, because they are made with peanut butter. They are great for baking, and of course eating right out of the jar.
