halloween candy grilled cheese

All of a sudden our weather has gone from summer to fall, and I for one could not be any happier. It has actually been so chilly the last few mornings I’ve needed a sweater when taking the kids to school. Our A/C is off. The windows are open. I’ve got apple and cinnamon candles lit all over the house, and I am ready to add a little autumn to our mantle.
It really is my favorite time of the year. We’re not yet in the rainy season, so the sun is shining, but the air is crisp. Leaves are beginning to fall and Halloween decorations are popping up around the neighborhood.
This will be our first Halloween in the new house, and with a neighborhood full of kids, I cannot wait for all the trick-or-treaters. Of course, I always overbuy candy. I do not ever want to be that house, the one with no candy, so we go a bit overboard. With teens in the house, too much candy is never really an issue, but this year I found a great way to use it up.
Halloween Candy Grilled Cheese
Who doesn’t love grilled cheese? Why save it for lunch or dinner when you could have grilled cheese for dessert, too?

halloween candy grilled cheese
Ingredients:
- 2 slices Sara Lee® Artesano™ Golden Wheat Bread

- 3 apple slices
- Butter for bread

- Heat griddle or skillet over medium heat
- Butter the outsides of each slice of bread
- For the peanut butter cup sandwich –
- Spread one slice with the mascarpone
- Top with peanut butter cups, top with raspberry jam, add brie slices, and top with bread
- Grill over medium heat 3-4 minutes on each side until the cheese and chocolate have melted and the bread is golden brown
- For the candy bar sandwich –
- Butter the outside of the bread
- Place butter side down, top with ½ of the honey, apple, candy bar pieces, brie, and the remaining honey and slice of bread
- Grill over medium 3-4 minutes on each side until the cheese and chocolate have melted and the bread is golden brown
The best part about a Halloween candy grilled cheese? There’s no wrong way to make it. No mascarpone? Try cream cheese. Don’t like apples? Use pear. Everyone in the family can choose their favorite candy and topping combinations for a custom creation every time.
Sara Lee® Artesano™ Golden Wheat Bread is the perfect canvas for your favorite grilled cheese toppings, sweet, savory, or a little of both. The slices are THICK, so you can load up on the toppings. The outside grills up perfectly crisp, but the inside stays nice and soft.
The only problem with Halloween candy grilled cheese? When the candy bowl runs dry.
Enjoy!

I’m usually content to just eat any leftover Halloween candy, but this sounds fun!

When I first saw the title “Halloween Candy grilled cheese,” my first reaction was “uhh…Ok.” We’re gonna have melted bright orange candy with cheese. Hmm… Good thing it’s peanut butter cup. Chocolatey peanut butter, cheese and apple do work well together. Creative idea.
thank you so much! i was not sure at first, but it really is a delicious combination.
