I LOVE Halloween.

Growing up, it was a BIG deal. My sister and I always had the best homemade costumes. My dad was the scariest Dracula, hanging out on the porch passing out candy and scaring the neighborhood kids. We trick-or-treated for HOURS, and then went to our grandparents’Β houses for even more candy.

Once the costumes came off and the candy was sorted we had cider and doughnuts, watched scary movies, and told ghost stories. My mom is the queen of ghost stories. Really scary ghost stories.

My kids have now grown out of the trick-or-treating phase, I don’t tell ghost stories like my mom did, but we still LOVE the cider and doughnuts and scary movie parts of Halloween.

We always had dunkin’ munchkins with our cider, but with no dunkin’ donuts nearby, and the doughnuts from the store not being anywhere near worth the calories consumed, homemade doughnut holes it is.
