I wouldn’t consider myself a creative person.

Sure, I can follow directions for a craft or DIY project, but when it comes to the actual coming up with crafty or creative ideas, then not so much. I’m much more of I see it and then do it kind of girl.

But I am in awe of creative types. Those that can pen the great american novel, put together a creative holiday display, create a recipe that goes viral, or choose a seriously witty business name.

A few months back, I was toying with the idea of a blog re-branding. I really wasn’t sure what I wanted, or what I was looking for, but I stumbled on Name.Kitchen, and their business naming tools. For those of us that are a bit less creative, it was just what I needed. They offer tips and advice, as well as videos for inspiration, and it was a great way to start my brainstorming process. This is also where I first found out about not-com domain choices.

In a sea of blogs and websites, it is SO important to stand out among the competition. What better way for an online business to stand out than with a name that speaks to exactly what the business is.

In my search for a great business name, I read through a handful of business success stories, and one stood out (most likely because coffee is  near and dear to me)

Driftaway.coffee

Started by a couple with a love of coffee and an entrepreneurial spirit. Driftaway Coffee was started to fulfill their desire to create, to do something that they were passionate about. This was the exact reason I started blogging.

Driftaway.coffee  offers freshly roasted coffee, personalized to your taste, delivered right to your door.

Not only is .coffee a great conversation starter, it’s a URL that states exactly what they do. For an online business that is incredibly important, and it sets you apart from your competition.

I settled on a new blog name Well Floured {new site coming later this year} and I was even able to reserve the domaine – wellfloured.blog.

I finally feel ahead of the curve 🙂   Because“not-com” choices are so new, the best names are still available to be registered.  A great business name, no matter what the business online or storefront, is a memorable name.

after reading all about driftaway.coffee I was craving coffee, add to that we finalized our Christmas travel plans –   the Kinnairds are headed to NY for the first time since Charlie was a baby, and I am SO excited. I was feeling festive, so I whipped up a holiday favorite (even though it is still stinking hot here, and the kids are swimming as I type this)
