The Holidays.

That special time of year when calories don’t count, and indulgence is pretty much everywhere you turn.

That’s probably why everyone one is in such a good mood.  Who isn’t happy when stuffed with gingerbread and chocolate {the cocktails don’t hurt either}

I for one have the...I’ll worry about it in January  attitude when it comes to food in December.  The more festive the better, and that includes wine.

It doesn’t get more festive than Chocolate Red Wine.

Yes, you read that correctly. ChocolatRouge is a blend of rich chocolate and fine red wine, delicious  as an after dinner drink on the rocks, but it is AMAZING when baked into a dark chocolate loaf cake.

Oh, and I bet it would make the BEST molten lava cake

Chocolate Red Wine Loaf cake

  • 8 tbsp butter {room temperature}
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs {room temperature}
  • 3/4 cup ChocolateRouge
  • 2tsp vanilla
  • 1 - 11/4 cups of flour
  • 1/2 cup of dark cocoa powder {could use regular cocoa powder as well}
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

  • in a bowl combine 1 cup of the flour with the dry ingredients
  • in the bowl of a stand mixer cream together the butter and sugars
  • add the eggs one at a time{scrape the bowl between additions}
  • gradually add in the wine and vanilla
  • stir in the dry ingredients
  • {if the batter is too wet add a bit of the extra flour}
  • spoon into a buttered loaf pan
  • bake @350 for 60 minutes

**This is an adults only cake, not all of the wine will bake off

But it is one deliciously sweet way to celebrate this holiday season.
