it happens to me all the time

halfway through running errands for the day, I end up starving

normally, I ignore it and finish whatever it is I’m doing, and then once home I end up eating everything in site

clearly, that is not a great plan

last week, I was finishing my shopping at Whole Foods when I got that you’re running on empty feeling. I still  had two other stops  to make on the way home, so I grabbed a drink from the end cap

it was a Forager nuts + coffee

it ended up being just what I needed

a little jolt from the coffee

a little protein from the nuts

it was delicious, and completely kept me from getting TOO hungry

of course, I had to make my own version, so that I can have nuts + coffee whenever I want (plus, hello it is WAY cheaper)

my version is very simple |

cashew milk (raw cashews soaked overnight, and then blended with water – I use 2 cups of water for 1 cup of nuts for an extra creamy consistency)

cold brewed coffee

dates (for sweetness)

vanilla and cinnamon

  • 1 cup cashew milk
  • 1/2 cup cold brewed coffee
  • 2 dates, pitted
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon


  • place ingredients in a blender jar, and blend until smooth


you can use any type of nut milk you prefer, but lately I am LOVING  the creaminess of cashew milk; store bought is fine, but making your own nut milk is really easy

** I don’t like sweet beverages, so if you prefer a sweeter coffee drink,  you may want to add a few extra dates
