I couldn’t think of a better way to end my day than with this better for you version of the peanut butter cup mc flurry
Having teenagers is quite the experience. As much as I miss the chubby little cheeks and adorable baby outfits, I love how independent my children are now that they are older. They love walking to and from school. They are happy to let themselves in after-school if I happen to be out. They are getting much better about keeping organized with school work and activities, and even their rooms and laundry are getting done without too much nagging.
They would LOVE to be independent when it comes to meals as well, however they are teens, so the choices they make are not what I would consider smart ones.
Lately, on the way home from school the kids and their friends like to stop at mc donalds for a mc flurry. Now I am not against treats from time to time, but everyday or even a few times a week is a bit too much for this moms comfort.
Getting kids to eat right is not always easy, especially if you have a fussy one like I do. But I feel much better about treats if the meals they get are mostly healthy.
Stella (the fussy one) loves yogurt and granola, but a lot of yogurt is loaded with sugar. Homemade yogurt is easy to make, I usually do this along with meal prep on Sundays, and with no added sugar or preservatives, I feel good about what she’s eating before school.
My kids may not always love to drink their milk, but they will never pass up a yogurt parfait or a mc flurry, and when made with DairyPure brand milk and TruMoo I know they will be nutritious as well as delicious.
DairyPure brand milk and TruMoo both contain no artificial growth hormones* and come from your local dairy, making them the perfect pair for your children’s diets!
- 3 cups of plain or vanilla frozen yogurt
- 1/2 cup TruMoo Chocolate milk
- 1/2 cup diced mini peanut butter cups (plus 2 for top)
- to prevent quick melting, place two glasses into the freezer to chill
- place milk and frozen yogurt into a blender
- blend until smooth, add peanut butter cups and pulse a few times to blend
- serve in chilled glasses with a peanut butter cup on top
This better for you peanut butter cup mc flurry is made with frozen yogurt instead of ice cream, TruMoo chocolate milk, and of course a few mini peanut butter cups blended in at the last minute. I used homemade yogurt churned in my ice cream maker. When frozen, it gets extremely hard because there is no added sugar. Before blending I let it thaw just a bit. OF course you can simply buy frozen yogurt.
Start and end your day right with DairyPure brand milk and TruMoo, the perfect balance of nutritious and delicious.
