these weight watchers 0 point pancakes are almost too good to be true
I made a promise to myself at the beginning of the year. This would be the year I get my weight under control. I was tired of trying on my own and never feeling successful.
As a food blogger, of course I love food. I love everything about it. Searching for recipes, shopping for the best ingredients, the cooking and photographing, and then yes the eating. But I always felt my eating was healthy. I don’t drink my calories in sodas or fancy coffee drinks. I almost never eat dessert, and I don’t make a habit of snacking between meals. But i do love my pancakes for breakfast.
But over the past 5 years, my weight kept creeping up, and up. No matter how mindful I was about what I was eating. It should be easy right. More calories out than in. Easy. NOT so much.
So, two weeks ago I went to my first Weight Watchers meeting. The meeting was great and I plan to go every week, but really it has been the Weight Watchers app on my phone that has made the biggest difference. Even things I had assumed were healthy…I’m looking at you granola and yogurt, are high in points if not done the right way. My favorite homemade granola needs to be eaten in small amounts (1/4 cup compared to my 3/4 – 1 cup full) to keep in the safe points zone. SO I load my bowl with berries and banana, top with some Greek yogurt and my 1/4 cup of granola.
But breakfast is my thing, and without pancakes life is simply not worth living. Getting a bit creative, I found a delicious and easy alternative to a very points heavy breakfast favorite. These 0 point pancakes are one of my favorite breakfast recipes.
2 egg whites (0 points) blended with 1 banana (0 points) + baking powder for a bit of rise, vanilla and cinnamon (all 0 points) = easy 0 point pancakes. Because the pancakes themselves are 0 points, I top them with 1 Tbsp of peanut butter and loads of fresh berries.

weight watchers 0 point pancakes
Ingredients:
- 2 egg whites
- 1 banana - well mashed
- optional -
- 1/2 - 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 - 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
- place ingredients in a blender jar, and blend until smooth
- cook on a griddle preheated to medium
- cook until bubbles form on the surface (about 2 1/2 - 3 minutes), flip and cook until the egg is fully cooked and the bottoms are golden (about 2 minutes)
- serve with 1 Tbsp of peanut butter (3 points) and fresh berries
the baking powder can be left out, but I like that it gives the pancakes a fluffier texture, more like the real deal. obviously, these will taste like banana, but if you love banana pancakes, you are going to love these.
don’t expect these to taste like the pancakes you are used to, but they really are delicious and compared to the points in a regular stack (they are 4 points each) these weight watchers 0 point pancakes cannot be beat.
So far, I am losing about 2 pounds a week (hoping for the same at my weigh in on Monday) and I have not felt deprived one bit. In fact, it has given me a new sense of creativity in the kitchen, and you can probably expect to see more weight watchers friendly recipes in the near future.
enjoy!
Heather, awesome that you have joined the weight watchers plan! It will be most fun to see how you adept and see your recipes!
Here is a question for you…..if one HATES bananas, any suggestions for a substitution?
you could try pumpkin (it will be a similar texture) or squash. I’d love to try apple butter (unsweetened) but not sure if there is enough substance
How much pumpkin or squash? I do like bananas, but a change would be great, and I will certainly try these in the morrow.
I have not ever tried them made without banana, but I would say about 1/4 – 1/3 cup to start
Applebutter would work great for the topping!
love love love apple butter! what a great idea
Thank you! I am allergic to bananas, at least fresh. I can eat banana bread so I was going to try this. But I can do pumpkin.
I have fruit latex syndrome.
pumpkin is delicious too! and perfect for fall
I used the banana and added a little pumpkin as well. I think it may have made the batter a little thin, but it came out like a crepe. I put mashed raspberries on top and it was delish. Tomorrow I’m going to try skipping the banana, using pumpkin as a replacement. I’m guessing about a 1/4 cup. I love pumpkin pancakes and I like my banana as a snack mid-morning. Thanks for the recipe! Zero point recipes are a life-saver!
I would be happy to see this as my breakfast! I’ll have to try these for myself!
I was really surprised by how good they were 🙂 because I do love my pancakes
I’m on weight watchers too and am sl says looking for new ideas to make. I’m going to try these tomorrow! Thank you!
I sure hope you enjoy them, for me variety has been SO important in sticking with the plan
These are gluten free too. I’m all in for finding Zero WW points recipes. Thank you for sharing
they sure are, and YES to the 0 point foods 🙂 thanks so much Deb
Bananas when blended are not zero points. You need to run it through the recipe builder and hit the blended option.
I apologize, I was instructed that blended for a smoothie had a points value, but not when being chewed and eaten as in these pancakes (the banana is mashed but not blended)
I just double checked, and this is only for drinks, not for a food being eaten
Not true. Only if you drink it
I apologize, I forgot to change the servings. It is 2pts/serving.
I just double checked the information, and the points for fruits and veggies only count when being put into a drink and not a food being eaten
I have asked the 24 hour line the blended banana question as I often make nice cream and smoothie bowls
They are zero points unless being drank in a smoothie. Blending them in general does not add points. The reason the points are added when in a smoothie is because you can drink much faster then eat making it easier to over consume calories. Also when eating as apposed to drinking, the saliva in your mouth begins the digestion process…… another eat vs drink point reason
Love this recipe, planning this for breaky tomorrow’n
Thank you so much!! I was told the same thing, but i get asked that question over and over again.
Did you run this by your meeting leader? Is it 2 pts or 0pts? My 13 yr old is doing WW with me, and I want to make these for her breakfast tomorrow.
according to my leader, and the ww recipes builder, unless it is for a smoothie, fruit and veggies are 0 points. yes it is blended, but it is not a drink, it is a food, so the banana would be 0 points
Love these They are the best replacement for the real thing. I use the whole egg. Still are delicious.
thank you so much; i love them too
I just recently joined WW & I am looking for quick and easy low point recipes and I found you! These sound amazing! I love bananas and can’t wait to try these. I also want to try with pumpkin as well in the Fall!
My question is, how many pancakes does this make?
Thanks,
Patti
this recipe is for one person, and you should get 4 pancakes
Can the “batter” be prepared and refrigerated?
i wouldn’t recommend that, and have not tried it, but if you do i would suggest re-beating the batter before cooking, or i fear that the pancakes will be very flat
Hey Heather!
I just tried these:) they were delicious! I eat mine with sugar-free syrup rather than peanut butter though. I’m happy you mentioned trying them a pumpkin. I was going to ask you if pumpkin would work so I’m happy it can:) my question to you- I had my burners on medium low and I felt like it took almost 10 minutes to cook each pancake. if I turned it up to med-high I started to burn one side, but they were to mushy still to flip. I felt like I had to put them in the microwave after so they wouldn’t be so mushy. I will tell you I had to leave out the baking powder because I didn’t have any will this make a difference ? Should they be A little squishy ? I was afraid they may be raw which is why am asking (but after 10 min of cooking thought they had to be fine )
low and slow is a good way to make sure they don’t burn, but with the banana (or pumpkin is using) they will be a bit mushy – but they should be cooked through
Ive been going to WW for 4 weeks now and at the. Meeting today the lady told us about these pancakes. So for supper tonight I made them and they were very nice with fruit, a couple of sprays of Gay Lea cream and Walden Farms (no calories, no sugar, nothing in these products at all except some salt) maple syrup. I will definitely make them again. I think the whole meal added up to 1 point. Thanks for sharing.
This is the first time I’ve visited the site. I’ll be back. (I live in Brantford, Ontario)
i am so happy to hear you enjoy them! i make them all the time
Baking powder makes a HUGE difference. I actually use two mashed bananas, two eggs and a tsp of baking powder, and they rise nicely! I cook mine on med-high, but yes, they do take longer than a normal pancake.
it really does! makes them more like an actual pancake
Now if your end goal is 0 points then this is a great recipe but as this was not the case for me I tweaked the recipe by adding 1/4 tsp sweetener, a pinch of salt and 1 Tbs flour which adds less than 1 point. This made a difference in the taste and consistency. Not being a peanut butter fan I used powdered sugar and found that just over 1 tsp for all four pancakes was enough for me. This as well adds less than 1 point. Being a huge pumpkin fan I tried it and they didn’t turn out well at all.
The batter was too thick, too dry and just would not cook properly. But I plan to keep trying and see if I can’t get them just right.
i love the changes you made, i will definitely try them this way, and i plan to try and tweak a pumpkin recipe as well
Another thought I had was to thin out the batter with a little water or skim milk and make crepes. Filled with a little Cool Whip and berries or any fruit for that matter would make a great dessert. I’ll give it a try. I wonder how unsweetened applesauce would work instead of the banana? I’ll give that a try too.
you are giving me SO many ideas !! thanks
Just made these for breakfast with the kids. The cooked product is wetter than traditional pancakes, and we had to add just over a tbsp of flour to be able to turn them, but Yum!
yes, it is very wet, but even without the flour if you allow them to cook on the griddle a while, they will flip – so glad you like them
Well I tried these and they turned out to be scrambled eggs with banana!!! How do you keep the mixture together and manage to flip them? I was excited about the 0 points however when I looked up egg whites, equivalent of 3 is 1 point
i only use 2 egg whites not 3, i added my eggs white and banana to y blender and they combine beautifully. i also used a bit of baking powder to get a slight rise and had no trouble at all
I just made these for the first time.
They took a little longer to fully cook before flipping.
Very tasty even if the texture is thinner .
they are more thin, but yes they are tasty 🙂
These pancakes look amazing! I was wondering if you would change anything to the recipe with the new Weight Watchers Freestyle program? I’m excited to give this recipe a try.
i wouldn’t change a thing – i love these as is
I make a similar pancake but with 2 tbsp of Greek yogurt and 2 tbsp of oat bran instead of flour. They are great and oat bran has much more fiber than flour.
that sounds like a great idea!
Oh man, what a mess!! We were very unsuccessful in cooking them. They stuck to the pan like nobody’s business! Any tips? (I ate them anyway – o points!! And they are pancake-like for sure!)
i always use my griddle – and they never stick at all – it really depends on your pan – but i would suggest using a non-stick cooking spray
Very difficult to handle and very burnt! I have had trouble with pancakes like these before but kept the faith!
i used cooking spray and did as the others cooked for a bit longer but still very mushy and stuck to the pan . what there was to taste was quite nice!
I had the same problem–they stuck to the skillet SO bad. Next time I will definitely use nonstick cooking spray.
i always use cooking spray – and never have a problem with them sticking
They were delicious! I don’t like on so I used 1/4 c st syrup and smash black berries. I wonder if you could use frozen strawberries thawed and drained like strawberry crepes?
i love to add berries to mine!
just tried these and they tasted so salty 😷😕 why would that be??
i have no idea – did you add salt?
Did you use baking soda or baking powder?
i used baking powder
I’m wondering, laying a single layer of thin sliced apple on the bottom of a sprayed pie plate, pouring this on top and baking it? Maybe like a cake of some sort?
that sounds really good! i bet it would work
I have to try this. Seems easy to do
they are very easy and delicious. thanks so much
can these pancakes be frozen succesfully
i have not ever tried to freeze them
I like this recipe. Thank you. Very good!
thank you so much
Why can’t you use a whole egg
this recipe was done before the new freestyle system – a whole egg used to be 2 points so i only used the whites. you could certainly use a whole egg – but whip your whites separately with the banana to get the most volume before adding the yolk
At my WW meeting one of the gals gave us a a Pancake recipe.
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/4 cup flour
2 eggs
2 teaspoon oil
(I add a little water for thin pancakes)
My husband’s favorite
i look forward to trying this recipe – how many points are they?
When I put this in my freestyle recipe creator it showed this recipe as 1 point for one pancake. I guess some foods that are zero alone become a point when put together. Someone else should double check me.
thanks so much, i will double check this
im not sure how you got point for this recipes – but i added all ingredients and steps into my counter and got 0 points https://cmx.weightwatchers.com/nui/explore/details2/MEMBERRECIPE:5a8c70dabe16c85a652dce58:5a8c70dabe16c85a652dce59
When I put this recipe in my WW create a recipe it registered as 1 point per pancake. I know that although individual items may be zero points, together they create points. Just thought I would mention this. I love the new Freestyle plan!!!
This is a WONDERFUL recipe. The only changes I made were to add two full eggs and 1/2 Tbsp flour.
These pancakes are so good (and not overly banana-ish, which I thought they’d be)- I want to eat a dozen of them. Thank you a thousand times for this recipe!
i can’t wait to try them with your additions! so happy you enjoy them as much as i do
I’m allergic to eggs! Can the eggs be omitted without sacrificing the recipe and taste?
without the eggs, you would just have banana – this would not work at all
I love the substitutions but do want to mention that once fruit is blended, such as the banana, it does accrue points. Our bodies process the calories differently once blended. That’s why Jamba Juice (etc) is so many points. Now, we all didn’t get big butts from blended bananas but just wanted to let you know weight watchers philosophy.
thank you, but this has been repeatedly discussed. fruit blended for a drink does absolutely have points, but not for a food. i have checked and double checked this fact with weight watchers – because you are eating the pancakes and not drinking them, the blended banana does not add points.
I just gave these a whirl and unfortunately they did not turn out very well for me. I do not have a blender, so I just whipped the ingredients very well with a fork until the mix was quite smooth; other than that, I followed the recipe exactly. For me, these just tasted like hot, wet bananas. Maybe the batter was heavier than I expected and I didn’t cook them long enough?
I’m not quite giving up yet. I may give these another go if I do get a blender. 🙂 I definitely encourage people to try new things on Weight Watchers and keep variety in their diet. It makes it a lot easier to stick to it! I’ve been on WW about 2 weeks and I’ve lost 4 pounds! Thank you for taking the time to give us this recipe!
for me variety is the key and YES a blender makes a big difference. it whips the egg whites and banana until they are very light and airy. of course they taste like banana, but i love banana pancakes 🙂
Are these good reheated? I like to make breakfast items ahead so quicker in the morning.
i have never made them ahead of time, so im not sure. but i think they may get a bit rubbery
I make a bunch at a time and reheat them at work the next day with the pureed strawberries that I’d made and they’d soaked up and they are soooo yummy!!! not rubbery at all! 🙂
I do have trouble flipping them and not having them burn, though.
love the strawberry idea! i would try lowering the heat a bit if they burn before they are ready to flip
I’m also in WW, and I make these on weekends. I don’t have a blender, so I mash the banana and beat with a fork, which makes mine “chunky style.” I add nutmeg. So yummy!
LOVE adding nutmeg! glad you enjoy them
I just made these and they very satisfying. They especially satisfy my sweet tooth.
mine too 🙂 this is why i love them so much. glad you enjoyed them as well
I tried it. Very good. But how do you get your 🥞 to look so nice?
practice – i make pancakes ALL THE TIME – it’s in the slow pour on the griddle 🙂 glad you enjoy them
Hello, I’ve recently discovered powdered peanut butter, it’s 3 tbsp for 1 point and you can’t tell the difference. Thank you for this recipe, we’re going to give it a try!
i love using pb2!
Mine did not keep their shape. They rose beautifully then when removed from heat deflated and were mushy. Is this normal?
they did deflate a bit, and the texture is not exactly like a flour based pancake, but mine were not mushy
Can’t wait to try these!!!
i hope you enjoy them as much as i do
I tried this and they did not look like your picture at all. They fell apart and I thought maybe bc my bananas were more ripe they didn’t add enough binding but I added in an apple and they still fell apart and were inedible. Any suggestions ? I’d really
Love for his recipe to work for me .
i wish i could help – but i make them all the time and never have any trouble with them not hooding together. an over-ripe banana may be too wet – or perhaps you are not blending them thoroughly – they should be quite whipped with a uniform consistency – much like a pancake batter
Is 4 pancakes 1 serving?
yes
I have problem, mine came out like mush. Does the size of the banana make a difference? Don’t know what I did wrong.
it could, also if they were over-ripe – that would produce a much wetter batter
What does your meal plan/exercise routine look like? I’m also trying to lose 2lbs a week with no luck.
i try to get in my 10,000 steps a day – mainly by walking. i do go to the gym a few times a week. as for diet – i try not to “outlaw” any foods, if i want dessert, i have dessert – but i do try to load up on fruits and veggies – measuring and weighing my food has really helped to control portion sizes. breakfast is usually 1/4 cup granola with 1/2 cup greek yogurt and berries – if not then some eggs with tomatoes and peppers and turkey bacon. lunch is a salad with chicken or tuna – or veggies and hummus. for dinner we have eat a lot of seafood – and loads of vegetables (i try to skip the carb) but i will allow myself a small serving of roasted potatoes or 1/4 cup rice sometimes.
I have a question….. I am curious as to why not use the whole egg? It doesnt change the points. And it adds substance and nutrition. Just curious.
when i first came up with this recipe – ww did not include whole eggs on the zero point list — i also feel you get ore rise when you whip only the whites
This recipe did not work out for me at all. It was a fluffy burnt mess! They didn’t fully cook and I couldn’t eat them. I followed the recipe exactly!
im so sorry to hear that – i make them all the time ans they always turn out well
How do you get the pancakes not to stick and become a messy goo in the griddle? I put it on medium and somehow they stuck to it (it was a non stick griddle).
my griddle is non-tick as well but i always use cooing spray or even a little oil to keep them from sticking. and for me the key is lower heat for longer
These did not work
so sorry to hear that. i make them all the time and never have trouble
If you want to use pumpkin, how much would you use out of the can?
i would start with 1/2 cup
I tried making these twice on two separate occasions and they didn’t turn out 😞
i am so sorry to hear that – i make them all the time and never had any issues at all
Thank you for the recipe! I tweaked it a little and used 2 whole eggs, since they are now 0 points and used 1 1/2 tbsp of flour, which is 1 point. The rest of the ingredients was the same as yours. No problem cooking them and they were delish! I got 8 small pancakes and 1 serving was 0 points, even with the flour. Had I eaten all 8 it would have been 1 point. I had no issues cooking them, a non-stick pan is key and medium heat. I think the next time I’m going to use 3-4 egg whites and the oat bran, as someone else suggested instead of flour and use baking powder as in your original recipe.
i’ll have to try them your way! glad you enjoyed the recipe
The blended banana is 5 pts not 0. Talk to your coach about the difference.
blended banana is 5 pts in smoothies only. i have talked to many ww coaches. in a food item banana, blended or not banana 0 points
FANTASTIC! Close enough to regular pancakes and I might even like flavor of these better! My husband even loved them! I also added 1/2 tbs of flour and used 2 whole eggs instead of just the whites. I used my immersion blender and it worked fine. That being said, when I make these for my family of four, I think I’ll take out the traditional blender. Because I love the traditional taste, I had them with Vermont Sugar Free Low Cal syrup (0 pts) and I Can’t Believe It’s not Butter (0 pts). Hard to believe I can eat this entire stack for 1 point! Next I’m going to try making the batter the night before and see how things go.
definitely let me know if they work overnight! so happy you enjoy them, they are my favorite breakfast
The weekend and Super Bowl munchies did me in as far as points go; so, I made these this morning and found them to be simply amazing and so easy to make! I made them just like the recipe and drizzled a bit of Smuckers sugar-free syrup on them with added thawed out berries. Wow – can’t wait to have them again!
yay! i am so glad you like them. we snacked a bit too much as well 🙂
HEATHER, what a gorgeous idea! We absolutely love pancakes! Definitely need to try these!
–
thank you so very much! we love pancakes too 🙂
Hi,
I have used this recipe many times and love it but I have realized these can’t be 0 points since when you change the consistency of fruit it becomes points. I was told by Weight Watchers once you blend the fruit and in anyway and change the consistency it changes it from a zero point food😩.
Sorry and I sure hope I’m wrong, but just wanted to share what Weight Watchers told me.
there seems to be much disagreement with this – my weight watchers leaders said that only fruit blended for a smoothie counts as points, and any food blended for eating does not count.
Hi Heather,
I just made these, they were great! To solve the WW question about the bananas, I just found this on the WW site:
If it’s something you’ll drink, like a juice or smoothie, the nutrition facts for zero SmartPoints value fresh fruits and vegetables count towards the total. If it’s something you’ll eat, like a salsa, sauce, stew, or soup, fresh fruits and most vegetables remain zero SmartPoints values in those recipes.
Thanks again for sharing, I will be sharing this myself!
that is exactly what i have been told – but SO many do not agree 🙂 thanks for sharing
Heather, that recipe looks so yummy! I’ll have to try that one. Thanks for sharing.
thank you so much! i love them
Heather, absolutely loved this! Made a few tweaks, as I literally never follow a recipe 100%, but this was so yummy I will actually make it again! Thank you!
thank you so much!i am the same way and rarely make it the same way twice
Currently, 1 tsp of vanilla extract is 1 point (if you put “vanilla extract” into the app). 1 and 1/8 tsp has 1 point, however. Perhaps different brands may be different though.
that may be new – it was always 0 points
my children love pancakes, cooked once again according to your recipe, it turned out very tasty, most importantly my children were full, thanks)
thank you
What a wonderful recipe, it looks appetizing, I showed it to my husband, he made me promise to prepare it for the next Thanksgiving
Omg they’re delicious!!!!! I was craving something different for breakfast and these hit the spot. On blue they are 0 points and my syrup had 2. I haven’t had pancakes in 6 months. It will be hard to not make them every morning!
thank you so much! these are a go to for me
I have tried making theses pancakes a couple of times with no luck. They stick to my pan ( sprayed with canola oil)
and cant get the flipper under without it gathering up in a mess. Is there a better way to flip them? I LOVE pancakes. Please teach me how to do them.
i use my non-stick griddle and use cooking spray. they are easier to lip i you wait until they are well set. i also use a my thin cookie spatula to lip them
Have you ever tried this recipe as a waffle?
yes, and it did not go well 🙂
