Panini-Press Waffle Cones

I LOVE kitchen gadgets.

Visiting Williams Sonoma is an ideal way to spend an afternoon.

We recently moved, and while I adore my new kitchen, we have much less cabinet space.
I now have to make due with only a few of my favorites.

For years I have wanted a waffle cone maker, but since shelf space is limited, it’s not likely to happen.

I recently read an article (wish I could remember where – I was travelling at the time) that used a panini press to make cones.

I could not wait to try it.

The cones were delicious, but there is a learning curve with the process:) Next time I will makes bowls as I’m sure they will be easier to form.

For the batter:
2/3 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
4 tbsp cup of butter (melted)
1/4 cup of half and half

whisk everything together and lest rest a few minutes
pre-heat your panini press
make your cone shape (using card stock) cut out a circle  shape and tape(or staple in my case) into place

place a small amount of batter in the center of the press (about 1/8 of a cup)

close tightly
cook until just starting to brown (here is where the trial an error begins)
quickly form around the cone shape (yes your fingers will be burning)

let cool slightly before removing the template ( waffle cone will *should hold its shape)
continue with the remaining batter (will produce about 8 cones)

Fill with your favorite flavor and Enjoy!
