Homemade Coconut Milk

just like pretty much everything else
coconut milk is SO much better homemade
I know there are many, MANY people that think why bother making it from scratch if I can just buy it ready to go.
My family thinks I’m crazy a lot of the time.
But I can’t help it,
I’m a DIYer without crafty skills, so I need to get my DIY on in the kitchen.
If you can buy it, I can make it.
That’s my motto.
Sometimes it works, and
sometimes…not so much.
This coconut milk is one that works, and it is extremely easy, almost too easy to consider it a blog post, but here it is anyway.
If you use coconut milk half as much as I do {we LOVE it for rice, oatmeal,pudding, and coffee}
You need to try homemade.
I only used 1 cup of shredded coconut, but you could easily double the recipe. Just keep it mind that the coconut milk will only keep 5 – 7 days in the fridge, and wasting it would be SO wrong.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of luke warm water
- 1 cup of shredded, unsweetened coconut
Instructions
- place the water and coconut in a blender jar
- blend
- strain using a fine mesh strainer {press on the coconut meat firmly to remove all of the milk}
- keep in a covered jar in fridge for up to 7 days
Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing this! I’ve been making my own cashew milk (it doesn’t need to be strained, so I’m getting all the goodness from the cashew). I never occurred to me to make coconut milk. I’ll mix up a batch tonight.
