Homemade Cheese Crackers

Have you  noticed that most moms carry goldfish  those cheesy crackers  around in their bags?

at the park
at the market
at church

I know that compared to a lot of snack items, they are pretty harmless.
I’ve never really been a fan.
Those colors just don’t seem “natural”

I feel the same about boxed mac and cheese

but kids love them

and I aim to please

Today I made cheese crackers.

They were very simple to make
taste GREAT
and the kids went crazy for them

I do believe I have conquered my fear of the lunch box.

for the crackers:
2 cups of whole wheat flour
6 ounces of sharp white cheddar (you could use yellow) grated
3/4 cup of milk
2 tbsp of butter
2 tsp of sea salt

in the bowl of a food processor combine the flour and salt
add the cheese and pulse until well combined
add the butter – pulse until you have a course meal

while pulsing gradually add the milk
this will form the dough

roll out to about 1/4 inch thickness (on a well floured surface)
cut into squares (I did owls as well)

bake on an un-greased sheet @ 425 for 8 minutes

even better than those other crackers
